PLACCC launched the Artist as Curator initiative in 2023, with the aim of making the program selection more horizontal by presenting each year at least one project proposed by artist(s) who regularly collaborate with PLACCC.
In the first year, Ziggurat Project invited the performance On schedule by Superfusion collective. In 2024, following the recommendation of Napsugár Trömböczky, member of both SVUNG Research Group and Femini duo, we invited the Scenescape Drama Group, consisting of participants mainly from refugee backgrounds, to participate. In 2025, Dávid Somló suggested inviting the Kaland (Adventure) formation.
This year, Fuzzy Earth collective invited Irene Lucas’ solar energy laboratory and community kitchen called Pop-Up Cantina Solar, to the program of PLACCC Festival.
Pop-Up Cantina Solar, led by Irene Lucas, is a mobile laboratory and outdoor community kitchen that explores the connections between solar energy, food, art and ecological transition. Using a variety of solar cookers and ovens, the project transforms public spaces into experimental kitchens where participants can learn to cook with solar energy, share meals and discuss topics such as food systems, sustainability and alternative cooking methods.
Participants can experiment with solar cooking technologies, build simple solar ovens from recycled materials, and contribute their own recipes and knowledge to a growing solar cooking community.
The project promotes low-tech, climate-conscious approaches to food preparation while fostering conversations about food origins, waste, mobility, material reuse, and community resilience.
